Terms of service

These terms apply to merchants who install Mint Affiliates ("the app"), made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

The service

The app helps you run an affiliate program: it creates a referral link and a discount code for each affiliate, credits paid orders to affiliates, reverses commission for refunds and cancellations, gives affiliates a dashboard, and keeps a record of the payouts you make. We may improve or change features; we will not remove a paid feature you rely on without notice.

Billing

Plans are billed by Shopify every 30 days in USD after the free trial. You can cancel at any time by changing plans or uninstalling the app. Charges are handled entirely by Shopify under Shopify's terms.

We never move money

The app calculates and records commission; it does not pay affiliates, hold funds or connect to payment accounts. You decide whether, when and how to pay affiliates, and you are responsible for those payments and any tax reporting. Commission figures are calculated from the order data Shopify sends; you can review and adjust any order's commission before paying it.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for your store, your program terms and your relationship with your affiliates, for the discount codes created for them, and for following the laws that apply to your program, including consumer disclosure rules for affiliates and cookie consent in your store.

Availability and liability

We work to keep the app available and secure, but it is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid for the app in the 3 months before a claim.

Data processing addendum

When the app processes personal data of your customers on your behalf, you are the controller and we are the processor. We will:

  • process personal data only to provide the app's features, following your instructions given through the app's settings;
  • process only the minimum data needed: affiliates' name, email, PayPal email, website and application note; for shoppers, only a referral code in their browser and cart, and for referred orders the order number and amounts (never names, emails, phone numbers, addresses or customer ids);
  • never sell personal data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models;
  • keep it confidential and limit access to authorised personnel;
  • encrypt it in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Cloudflare D1 encryption at rest);
  • use Cloudflare (hosting, database and affiliate emails) and Shopify as our only sub-processors;
  • delete an affiliate's personal data when you delete them in the app, delete declined applications after 30 days, and delete all shop data after uninstall (shop redaction);
  • help you respond to data subject requests and notify you without undue delay of any personal data breach.

Changes

We will post changes to these terms here and update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
